Adipose

   

Adipose means composed of animal fat. Adipose tissue, for example, is mainly fatty tissue.

An adipose fin is a single fleshy fin along the back of a fish.

  1. This is strange - more often than not, words with Latin roots are the same in English and German, but not this time. Here, adipös means someone severely obese, and Adipositas is the medical term for the condition someone is in when they are really so obese it is medically worrying and recognised as an illness or handicap.
